1

Chill glass

Place an old-fashioned glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you build the cocktail to chill the glass.

2

Measure

Measure 2 oz Old Soul Bourbon, 0.75 oz apricot liqueur, and 1 oz fresh orange juice into a mixing glass or shaker.

3

Add bitters & optional sweetness

Add 3 dashes of black walnut bitters to the mixing glass. If you prefer a slightly sweeter, more rounded profile, add 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional).

4

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes (enough to come near the top). Stir gently for 20–30 seconds until well-chilled and slightly diluted. If you prefer a more aerated drink, you may shake briefly (6–8 seconds) for a slighter froth but stirring preserves clarity.

5

Prepare glass

Discard the ice water from the chilled old-fashioned glass (if used) and add a single large fresh ice cube or a few large cubes to the glass.

6

Strain

Double-strain or fine-strain the mixed cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared old-fashioned glass over the large ice cube(s).

7

Garnish & finish

Express the oils of an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel over the glass and giving it a good twist, then rub the peel along the rim and drop it into the drink. Optionally, skewer a Luxardo or brandied cherry and rest it on the cube as an additional garnish.

8

Serve

Serve immediately. Recommend stirring once during the first few sips if the drink warms up to maintain integrated flavors.
