Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare shaker

Add 4 cups of ice to a cocktail shaker (enough to chill thoroughly).

2

Measure and combine

Pour 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1/2 oz fresh orange juice and 1/4 oz simple syrup (or agave) into the shaker.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold (this both chills and dilutes slightly).

4

Prepare glass

Rub the rim of a chilled rocks or coupe glass with the lime wedge. Dip the rim lightly into the coarse sea salt to create an even salt rim. If you prefer no salt, skip this step.

5

Strain

Fill the prepared glass with 1 cup fresh ice (if serving on the rocks). Double-strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove shards of ice and pulp. For a straight-up serving, fine-strain into a chilled coupe without ice.

Garnish & Finish

6

Express an orange twist over the cocktail (optional) to release oils, then drop it in or discard as preferred.

7

Garnish the rim with the lime wheel or wedge placed on the glass. Serve immediately.
