Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Dip the rim into a shallow plate with fine sea salt or Tajín to coat. Set the glass aside.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz blanco tequila, 0.75 oz Ancho Reyes Verde, 0.5 oz Licor 43, 0.5 oz agave syrup, and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice.

3

Add ice and shake

Add plenty of ice to the shaker (about 1 cup). Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

4

Strain

Double-strain (using a Hawthorne and fine mesh if available) into the prepared glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or without ice into the chilled coupe for a neat serve.

5

Optional heat

If you want an extra chile aroma, float a thin jalapeño or poblano slice on top of the cocktail or briefly torch the slice and drop it in (exercise caution).

Garnish & Serve

6

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and place the jalapeño/poblano slice on the drink if using. Serve immediately.
