BELL'S ROBUST PORTER is a rich and complex beer featuring deep chocolate and coffee notes, balanced with a hint of caramel sweetness for a satisfying finish.

Heat 6 liters of water in a large pot to about 165°F (74°C). Add the pale malt, crystal malt, chocolate malt, and black malt to the water and stir well. Maintain the temperature at around 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes.

Mash the Grains

After the mash is complete, sparge the grains with hot water to collect the wort. This should yield about 5 liters of wort.

Bring the wort to a boil and add the bittering hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding the aroma hops in the last 10 minutes of the boil.

Boil the Wort

After boiling, cool the wort rapidly to about 70°F (21°C) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.

Cool the Wort

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch the yeast into the wort and seal the vessel with an airlock. Allow it to ferment at around 68°F (20°C) for 1-2 weeks.

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them. Allow to carbonate for 1-2 weeks.

Bottling

Once carbonated, chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade Bell's Robust Porter!
