Method

Brew

1

Measure and grind

Measure 0.375 cups (approximately 42 grams) of medium-roast whole-bean coffee. Grind to a medium grind size (similar to granulated sugar) for drip or pour-over brewing.

2

Heat water

Heat 12 fl oz (about 355 ml) of filtered water to 195–205°F (90–96°C). If you don't have a thermometer, bring water to a boil and let rest 30 seconds.

3

Bloom (pour-over) / Pre-wet (drip)

If using pour-over: place a paper filter in the dripper and rinse with hot water, then add the ground coffee. Pour 40–60 ml of hot water evenly over the grounds to wet them fully and let bloom for 30–45 seconds. If using an automatic drip brewer: place grounds in the filter and skip manual bloom; the machine will wet grounds during brewing.

4

Brew

Slowly pour the remaining hot water over the grounds in a steady circular motion, completing the pour in 2.5–3.5 minutes total (for pour-over). For drip machine, start the brew cycle and let it finish. Aim for a total brewed yield of ~12 fl oz (cup).

5

Serve

Once brewing finishes, remove the brewer or carafe and pour coffee into a pre-warmed cup.

Finish and Serve

6

Customize

Add optional milk or cream (2 tbsp) and sugar (1 tsp) if desired. Stir gently. Sprinkle a pinch (about 1/8 tsp) of ground cinnamon on top if you like.

7

Taste and adjust: add more milk or sweetener to taste.
