Canned Soda

Method

Canned Soda

1

Chill (if needed)

If the can is not already cold, place it in the refrigerator for at least 30–60 minutes or in an ice bath for 10–15 minutes until chilled to your preference.

2

Prepare serving

If you prefer soda over ice, fill a glass with 3–4 ice cubes. If you prefer drinking straight from the can, skip this step.

3

Open the can

Hold the can upright on a stable surface. Lift the tab to break the seal and fully pull back the tab to open the pour hole. Allow any initial hiss to settle briefly to avoid overflow.

4

Pour (optional)

If using a glass, tilt the glass slightly and pour the soda slowly down the side to preserve carbonation and minimize foaming. Stop pouring when the glass is about 3/4 full to prevent spills.

5

Garnish (optional)

If desired, squeeze a lemon or lime wedge into the soda for a bright citrus note, then drop the wedge into the glass or rest it on the rim of the can.

6

Serve

Insert a straw if desired and serve immediately. If drinking from the can, hold it by the body rather than the rim and enjoy.

7

Store remaining soda

If you do not finish the can, close it as best you can (use a reusable can cover or plastic wrap) and refrigerate. Drink within 24 hours for best taste and carbonation.
