Hot Pot Ingredients
Method
Hot Pot Preparation
Prepare the Ingredients
Start by washing and chopping all the vegetables and proteins.
Slice Chicken and Tofu
Cut the chicken breast into thin slices and the firm tofu into cubes.
Devein and Clean Shrimp
Peel and devein the shrimp, leaving the tails on for presentation if desired.
Chop Vegetables
Slice the carrots into thin rounds, chop the mushrooms, and cut the baby bok choy in half. Chop the green onions into small pieces.
Prepare Broth
In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger. Stir well.
Add Seasonings
Pour in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and chili oil into the broth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Bring Broth to a Simmer
Allow the broth to come to a gentle simmer. You can taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
Prepare Hot Pot
Transfer the simmering broth into a hot pot or a fondue pot to keep it warm at the table.
Cooking the Ingredients
At the table, add the sliced chicken, shrimp, tofu, and vegetables into the hot broth. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink, shrimp turns pink, and vegetables are tender (about 3-5 minutes).
Serve
Serve hot directly from the pot, allowing everyone to cook their own ingredients. Enjoy!
