Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
Choose a large wine glass or goblet. Fill it about three-quarters full with cubed ice to chill the glass and keep the drink cold.
- 2
Muddle aromatics
Place the fresh mint leaves and the juice of half a lime (about 0.5 lime) into the glass. Gently press/muddle the mint and lime with a bar spoon or muddler 3–4 times just to release the mint oils and lime juice — avoid over-muddling so the mint does not become bitter.
- 3
Add spirits
Pour in 1 oz of elderflower liqueur over the muddled mint and lime.
- 4
- 5
Top with soda
Add 1 oz chilled soda water (club soda or sparkling water) to lighten the spritz and balance sweetness.
- 6
Stir gently
Use a long bar spoon to give the drink one or two gentle turns to integrate the ingredients. Avoid vigorous stirring to keep carbonation.
- 7
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a fresh mint sprig tucked into the drink. Serve immediately with a straw or cocktail pick if desired.
