Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Rinse a chilled Old Fashioned glass with absinthe (or an absinthe substitute) and discard the excess. This prepares the glass for the cocktail and adds a subtle flavor.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine Michter’s Rye, Cognac, Demerara Syrup, Peychaud’s Bitters, and Aromatic Bitters. Fill the mixing glass with ice.

  3. 3

    Stir the Cocktail

Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.

  4. 4

    Strain into Glass

Using a strainer, pour the mixture into the prepared Old Fashioned glass over fresh ice or neat, depending on your preference.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Express the oils from a lemon peel over the cocktail and drop it into the glass as a garnish.
