Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare shaker
Add ice to a cocktail shaker until roughly 3/4 full (about 1 cup).
- 2
Combine ingredients
Pour 2 oz Lalo tequila, 1 oz prickly pear syrup, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz Cointreau into the shaker over the ice.
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12β15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well chilled.
- 4
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled rocks glass filled with fresh ice (or a coupe if serving up) using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove any pulp or small ice shards.
- 5
Optional top
If desired, top the cocktail with 1 oz club soda for a lighter, slightly effervescent drink. Gently stir once to integrate.
Garnish & Rim
- 6
Rim the glass
Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of the serving glass. Dip or press the rim into about 0.5 tsp black finishing salt to coat evenly. If you prefer the salt inside the rim only, press gently to avoid clumps.

Garnish
Float a lime wheel on the top of the drink or place it on the rim. Optionally add a small wedge of lime on the side for squeezing.
