Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually blend into the creamed mixture. Fold in chocolate chips.

Bake the Cookies

Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden. Allow to cool on wire racks.

Brownies

Prepare the Brownie Batter

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt the butter and cocoa powder together in a saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Beat in flour and salt until combined.

Bake the Brownies

Spread the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool before cutting into squares.
