Basic Milk (White)

Method

Basic Milk (White)

  1. 1

    Chill and Prepare

Ensure the milk is cold; keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Use a clean glass that has been chilled if desired.

  2. 2

If you want lightly sweetened or flavored milk, add 1 tsp honey or sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract to the glass.

  3. 3

Pour 1 cup cold whole milk into the glass. Stir gently with a spoon until any added sweetener is dissolved and the vanilla is evenly distributed (about 10–15 seconds).

  4. 4

Serve immediately. Adjust sweetener to taste (add in 1/2 tsp increments if needed).

Chocolate Milk

  1. 5

    Make a Cocoa Paste

In a small cup or measuring spoon, combine 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder and 1 teaspoon granulated sugar. Add 1 teaspoon hot water and stir until you have a smooth, lump-free paste (this helps the cocoa disperse evenly).

  2. 6

Add a pinch (about 1/8 tsp) of salt to the cocoa paste to enhance chocolate flavor, if using. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract if desired.

  3. 7

Pour 1 cup cold whole milk into a separate glass. Add the prepared cocoa paste to the milk.

  4. 8

Stir vigorously for 15–20 seconds until the cocoa and sugar are fully incorporated and the milk is uniformly chocolate-colored. Taste and add more sugar in 1/2 tsp increments if a sweeter drink is desired.

  5. 9

Serve immediately over ice if you want an extra-chilled drink, or enjoy as-is. For a frothier texture, use a milk frother or shake the milk and cocoa paste vigorously in a lidded jar for 10–15 seconds.
