1

Chill glass

If desired, place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to chill.

2

Combine base spirits

In a cocktail shaker, add light rum (2 oz), Stambecco maraschino (0.5 oz) and fresh lime juice (0.5 oz).

3

Add grenadine and ice

Add grenadine (0.5 tbs) to the shaker. Fill the shaker about three-quarters full with ice (roughly 1 cup).

4

Shake briefly

Shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold. This chills and lightly dilutes the mixture and incorporates the grenadine.

5

Prepare glass and build

Discard any ice or water from the chilled glass. Add fresh ice to the glass (enough to reach near the top). Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over the ice.

6

Top with soda and 7 Up

Gently pour soda water (1.5 oz) followed by 7 Up (3 oz) into the glass. Stir once or twice with a bar spoon to combine — be gentle to preserve some effervescence.

7

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve with a straw and enjoy.
