Build the drink
Fill a rocks glass (old-fashioned glass) with 3 large ice cubes so the glass is well chilled.
Add spirits
Pour 1 oz Campari and 1 oz sweet vermouth directly over the ice.
Top with soda
Gently top with about 2 oz chilled soda water. Pour slowly over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass if you prefer to preserve some layering.
Stir
Give the drink one or two gentle short stirs with a bar spoon to integrate the ingredients without flattening the soda.
Garnish and serve
Express the oils of an orange twist over the glass or place an orange slice on the rim as a garnish. Serve immediately.
