Preparation

Cider Preparation

1. Prepare the Blueberry Base

In a saucepan, combine fresh blueberries, lemon juice, and granulated sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the blueberries start to break down, about 5-7 minutes.

2. Strain the Mixture

Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl to separate the liquid from the solids. Press the solids to extract as much juice as possible.

3. Combine Ingredients

In a large fermentation vessel, combine the blueberry liquid with 4 cups of water, blueberry extract, and citric acid.

4. Add Yeast

Sprinkle champagne yeast over the mixture and stir gently to combine.

5. Ferment the Cider

Cover the fermentation vessel with an airlock and let it ferment in a cool, dark place for 1-2 weeks, or until fermentation is complete.

6. Bottle the Cider

Once fermentation is complete, siphon the cider into sanitized bottles, leaving some headspace at the top. Seal the bottles with caps.

7. Carbonate and Chill

Allow the bottles to carbonate at room temperature for 1-2 weeks. Once carbonated, refrigerate the bottles before serving.

8. Serve

Serve chilled and enjoy your homemade Bull City Ciderworks Bludacris Blueberry-Lemon cider!
