Cocktail

Method
Preparation
- 1
Muddle aromatics
In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, add the mint leaves and cucumber slices. Add the simple syrup and gently muddle 6–8 times — just enough to release cucumber juice and mint oils without pulverizing the mint.
- 2
Add spirits and citrus
Add the vodka, elderflower liqueur, and fresh lime juice to the shaker. Add 4–6 ice cubes (enough to chill but leave room for shaking).
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly frosty on the outside.
- 4
Prepare glass
Fill a copper mule mug or highball glass with crushed ice (about 1 cup). If desired, toss a few small mint leaves on the top of the ice for aroma.
- 5
Strain and top
Double strain the shaker contents over the crushed ice into the prepared mug/glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch cucumber bits and mint shards.
- 6
Add ginger beer and bitters
Top with cold ginger beer (about 4 oz). Add 2 dashes of angostura bitters over the top to add depth and aroma. Give the drink a gentle stir (1–2 turns) to incorporate without flattening the ginger beer.
- 7
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a small sprig of mint tucked into the ice. Optionally slide a cucumber slice onto the rim or float one on top.
- 8
Serve
Serve immediately while fizzy and cold. Provide a straw if desired.
