Pasta Preparation

1. Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

2. Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and return it to the pot. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and toss to coat. Set aside.

Add the salt, black pepper, and chopped fresh basil to the sauce. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

7. Combine with Pasta

Once the sauce has thickened slightly, add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes.

8. Add Parmesan

Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.

Plate the spaghetti and sauce, then top with fresh basil leaves and Parmesan cheese shavings. Serve hot.
