Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 1 oz Midori, 1 oz Cointreau, 3 tsp (approximately 0.5 oz) freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 1 tsp simple syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly diluted.

  4. 4

    Strain

Dump the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and, optionally, a fine mesh strainer to remove tiny ice shards and citrus pulp.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

Express the oils of a lemon twist over the surface and drop it into the drink, or float a thin lemon wheel on the surface. Serve immediately.
