Blue Cheese Sriracha Ranch Dressing

Method

Blue Cheese Sriracha Ranch Dressing

  1. 1

    Prepare aromatics and herbs

Finely chop the chives and parsley. Mince the garlic clove and set aside. Crumble the blue cheese so there are a mix of small crumbles and a few larger pieces for texture.

  2. 2

    Combine base ingredients

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup mayonnaise and 1/2 cup sour cream until smooth and uniform in texture.

  3. 3

    Add tang and heat

Stir in 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 tablespoons Sriracha, 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice. Whisk until incorporated. Taste for heat and acidity balance; add the optional 1 teaspoon honey if the dressing tastes too sharp or spicy.

  4. 4

    Incorporate aromatics and seasonings

Add the minced garlic, chopped chives, chopped parsley, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper into the bowl. Whisk briefly to distribute evenly throughout the mixture.

  5. 5

    Fold in blue cheese

Gently fold in 3/4 cup crumbled blue cheese with a spatula or spoon, leaving some larger crumbles intact for texture. Reserve a small pinch (about 1 tablespoon) of crumbles to sprinkle on top when serving, if desired.

  6. 6

    Adjust consistency

If the dressing is thicker than you prefer, whisk in up to 2 tablespoons cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired pourable but creamy consistency. If it becomes too thin, add a tablespoon of sour cream or mayonnaise to thicken.

  7. 7

    Chill for flavor meld

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the dressing to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (preferably 2–4 hours) to allow flavors to meld and the heat from the Sriracha to mellow. The dressing can be used immediately if needed, but chilling improves flavor.

  8. 8

    Final taste and serve

Before serving, stir the dressing, taste, and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper or Sriracha to preference. Sprinkle reserved blue cheese crumbles and a few extra chopped chives on top. Serve chilled as a dip, salad dressing or sauce for fried foods.

  9. 9

    Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days. Stir well before each use; the dressing may thicken slightly when cold—thin with a teaspoon of cold water if necessary.
