Sleepy Girl Mocktail
Method
Sleepy Girl Mocktail
- 1
- 2
Measure and pour cherry juice
Measure 1/2 cup (120 ml) unsweetened tart cherry juice and pour it into the prepared glass.
- 3
Add magnesium powder
Spoon 1 tablespoon of magnesium powder (magnesium citrate or glycinate) into the tart cherry juice. If the powder is flavored, note that it may alter sweetness or texture.
- 4
Dissolve and stir
Stir the cherry juice and magnesium powder thoroughly for about 20–30 seconds until the powder is mostly dissolved. Pause and scrape the sides and bottom of the glass to incorporate any settled powder. If the powder is very coarse, stir a bit longer.
- 5
Top with fizz
Carefully pour about 4 oz (120 ml) chilled prebiotic soda, plain seltzer, or sparkling water into the glass to add effervescence. Pour slowly to preserve bubbles and avoid overflow. Give a gentle stir (1–2 turns) to combine — avoid vigorous stirring to keep carbonation.
- 6
Garnish and finish
If desired, squeeze the wedge of lemon or lime over the drink and drop it in as garnish. Taste and adjust: if magnesium powder leaves a slightly bitter or chalky finish, a small squeeze of citrus can brighten the flavor.
- 7
When to drink
Consume the mocktail about 45–60 minutes before bedtime to allow the magnesium and tart cherry compounds (melatonin precursors) to begin taking effect.

Notes and safety
Do not exceed the recommended magnesium dose on the supplement packaging or your health care provider's advice. If you have kidney disease, are pregnant, nursing, or take medications, check with a medical professional before using magnesium supplements. Adjust carbonation volume to taste; you can increase to 6–8 oz (180–240 ml) if you prefer a lighter cherry concentration.
