Smoothie Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare fruit

Wash the strawberries, remove the green hulls, and halve or quarter larger berries so they blend easily. Peel the banana and chop into 1/2-inch pieces. Measure out the yogurt and milk so they’re ready to add.

  2. 2

    Load blender

Add the chopped banana and strawberries to the blender first. Pour in the yogurt and then the milk. This order (fruit then liquids) helps the blades pull ingredients down for a smooth blend.

  3. 3

Add flax oil and optional ingredients

Add 1 tablespoon strawberry-banana flax oil. If using, add ice cubes for a thicker, colder texture, and add honey/maple syrup or ground flax/chia if desired.

  4. 4

    Blend until smooth

Secure lid and blend on medium-high for 30–60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides once if needed. Blend until mixture is smooth and no large fruit pieces remain. If too thick, add up to 2 tablespoons (30 ml) more milk and blend briefly; if too thin, add 1–2 ice cubes or 1/4 cup frozen strawberries and re-blend.

  5. 5

    Taste and adjust

Taste the smoothie. If more sweetness is desired, add 1/2–1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup and blend 5–10 seconds more. Adjust flax oil only if you want a stronger flax flavor—add in additional 1/2 teaspoon increments, up to 1 extra teaspoon total.

  6. 6

    Serve

Pour the smoothie into a chilled glass (about 16 oz). Garnish with a strawberry or banana slice and a mint sprig if desired. Serve immediately.
