Smoothie Fruit & Liquid

Method

Prepare Fruit

  1. 1

    Wash and prep

Rinse strawberries and blueberries thoroughly under cold water. Hull the strawberries (remove green tops). Peel the banana and cut into 1-inch slices. If not pre-cut, core and remove rind from the pineapple and chop into bite-size chunks.

  2. 2

Measure the fruit: 1 cup hulled strawberries, 1 cup blueberries, 1 ripe banana (sliced), and 3 cups pineapple chunks. Set fruit aside in a bowl or directly add to the blender jar.

Blend Smoothie

  1. 3

    Layer ingredients in blender

Into the blender jar add the apple juice (1 cup) and orange juice (1 cup) first (this helps blending), then add the strawberries, blueberries, banana slices, and pineapple chunks. If using optional yogurt, add 1/2 cup now. Add honey or maple syrup (1 tablespoon) if you want extra sweetness.

  2. 4

    Add ice and seeds

Add 6 ice cubes for a cold, frothy texture. If using chia seeds, sprinkle in 1 teaspoon.

  3. 5

    Blend to desired consistency

Secure the lid and blend on high for 45–90 seconds, stopping once to scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed. Blend until smooth and no large pieces of fruit remain. If too thick, add up to 1/4 cup more apple or orange juice and blend again for 10–15 seconds. If too thin, add one or two additional ice cubes or 1/4 cup more pineapple and blend briefly.

Serve

  1. 6

Taste and adjust sweetness or texture. Pour the smoothie into two tall glasses (serves 2). Garnish with a strawberry on the rim or a few blueberries on top if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor and color.

  2. 7

Storage: If you have leftover smoothie, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; shake or re-blend before serving as separation may occur.
