Method
Smoothie Base
- 1
Prepare fruit
Peel the ripe banana and break it into 2–3 chunks. If using an extra-frozen banana for a thicker texture, slice and freeze for at least 1 hour beforehand.
- 2
- 3
Blend
Secure the lid and blend on high for 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no large ice or banana pieces. Stop and scrape down the sides once if necessary, then blend again for 10–15 seconds.
- 4
Adjust consistency & flavor
If the smoothie is too thick, add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) more chocolate milk and pulse briefly. If too thin, add another small scoop of ice cream or 1–2 extra ice cubes and blend 10–20 seconds.
Optional Boosters & Garnish
- 5
Add boosters
If using peanut butter, add it to the blender with the other ingredients before blending so it emulsifies smoothly. If using chocolate syrup for extra chocolate intensity, drizzle 1 tablespoon into the blender or reserve to drizzle inside the serving glass.
- 6
Serve
Pour the finished smoothie into a 16–20 oz serving glass. Top with optional whipped cream. Drizzle additional chocolate syrup over the top if desired. Sprinkle grated chocolate or a light dusting of cocoa powder.
- 7
Garnish
Finish with a banana slice on the rim or floated on top. Insert a straw and serve immediately.
