Method
Banana-vanilla punch base
Prepare fruit
Peel and mash the ripe banana in a bowl until smooth but slightly pulpy. If you prefer a silkier texture, strain through a fine sieve and reserve the pulp. Set aside.
Combine spirits and flavor
In a cocktail shaker, add the mashed banana, banana liqueur (45 ml), Japanese whisky (30 ml), vodka (15 ml), vanilla syrup (20 ml), fresh lemon juice (15 ml), and banana extract (2 tsp, optional).
Muddle orange
Cut the orange slice into quarters. Add the quarters to the shaker and gently muddle once or twice to release oils and a small amount of juice—do not over-muddle to avoid bitterness.
Shake with ice
Add a generous handful of crushed ice to the shaker. Close and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly frothy from the banana.
Fruit & fizz
Strain into glass
Fill a highball or Collins glass about two-thirds with crushed ice. Double-strain the shaken mixture (using a julep strainer and a fine mesh sieve) into the glass to remove pulp and orange solids for a smooth texture.
Add juices & top
Pour pineapple juice (60 ml) over the strained base, then gently top with chilled sparkling water or soda (60 ml). Stir once very gently with a bar spoon to combine without losing all carbonation.

Finish and serve
Thread a banana slice onto the rim or place it on a cocktail pick. Lightly toast the teaspoon of sesame seeds in a dry pan until golden and fragrant (about 1–2 minutes), let cool, then sprinkle them over the banana slice or the foam of the drink. Add micro basil or a shiso leaf as an aromatic accent if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
