Base

Method

Base

  1. 1

    Prepare avocados

Halve the avocados, remove pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mash and season

Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired texture (smooth or slightly chunky). Immediately add the fresh lime juice and kosher salt; mix to combine. The lime juice brightens flavor and slows browning.

Vegetables & Heat

  1. 3

    Prepare aromatics

Finely dice half a small red onion and transfer to the bowl with the mashed avocado. Dice the tomato, removing seeds and excess juice to avoid watery guacamole, then fold the tomato into the mixture.

  2. 4

    Add jalapeño

Seed and finely mince the jalapeño (leave seeds in if you prefer more heat). Add the minced jalapeño to the avocado and stir gently to distribute evenly.

Herb & Finish

  1. 5

Fold in cilantro and adjust seasoning

Add the finely chopped cilantro and freshly ground black pepper. Taste and adjust salt, lime juice, or jalapeño heat as needed.

  2. 6

    Add optional salsa and rest

If using salsa, gently fold in up to 1/4 cup for extra flavor and texture or spoon salsa on top as a garnish. Let the guacamole rest 5–10 minutes at room temperature to allow flavors to meld before serving.

  3. 7

    Serve

Transfer to a serving bowl. Optionally garnish with a few cilantro leaves, a dusting of black pepper, or a small lime wedge. Serve with tortilla chips, tacos, or as desired.
