Don Julio 1942 Recipe

Cocktail

   Prepare glass

   Choose a rocks glass or short tumbler. If desired, chill the glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you build the cocktail, then discard the ice water before pouring.

   Combine ingredients

   In a mixing glass, add 2 oz Don Julio 1942, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz agave syrup, 0.25 oz orange liqueur (optional), and 1 dash Angostura bitters.

   Add ice and stir

   Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes (enough to properly chill without diluting too quickly). Stir gently for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (the mixing glass should frost on the outside).

   Strain and serve

   Discard any ice from the chilled rocks glass and add 1–2 fresh large ice cubes. Strain the chilled cocktail into the glass over the ice.

   Garnish

   Express a lime wheel or flamed orange peel over the drink to release essential oils, then drop the lime wheel into the glass or lay the orange peel on the rim. Serve immediately.
