Method
Prep
- 1
Prepare the glass
Place the sea salt on a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass and dip the rim lightly into the salt to coat. Set the glass in the freezer for 2–3 minutes to chill while you mix the cocktail.
- 2
Juice and measure
Juice fresh limes to yield 1 oz of lime juice and measure the Clase Azul Plata, orange liqueur and agave syrup. Have fresh ice ready for shaking and serving.
Mixing
- 3
Build and shake
In a cocktail shaker add 1 cup of ice, 2 oz Clase Azul Plata, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur and 0.5 oz agave syrup. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and well-chilled.
- 4
Strain
Remove the chilled glass from the freezer and fill with fresh ice (if serving on the rocks) or leave chilled if serving neat. Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass using a Hawthorne or fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and any pulp.
Finish & Garnish
- 5
Express an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down over the glass and giving it a good squeeze to release oils; wipe the rim with the twist and drop it into the drink or hang it on the rim. Optionally add a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a small sprig of thyme or rosemary tucked beside the twist for an herbal aroma.
- 6
Serve immediately. Sip and enjoy the bright citrus and agave notes that let the Clase Azul Plata shine. If you used smoked salt, note the subtle savory contrast with the tequila's agave-forward profile.
