Tempura Batter
Green Beans
Sriracha Aioli
Method
Tempura Batter Preparation
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Gradually add the ice water, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.
Green Beans Preparation
Prepare the Green Beans
Wash the fresh green beans under running water. Trim the ends of the green beans by snapping off the woody ends.
Frying
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use enough oil to submerge the green beans.
Coat and Fry
Dip each green bean into the tempura batter, allowing any excess batter to drip off. Carefully place the coated green beans into the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Sriracha Aioli Preparation
Make the Aioli
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt until smooth. Adjust salt and sriracha to taste.
