Gnocchi Ingredients

Method

Gnocchi Preparation

1

Cook the Potatoes

Boil the Russet potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 30-40 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.

2

Make the Dough

Peel the potatoes and mash them in a large bowl. Add the flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms, being careful not to overwork it.

3

Shape the Gnocchi

Divide the dough into four pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 1-inch pieces and use a fork to create ridges.

4

Cook the Gnocchi

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon.

5

Serve

Toss the gnocchi with olive oil and your choice of traditional sauce (like marinara or pesto) before serving.
