Vodka Base

Finishing & Serving

Method

Vodka Base

1

Prepare vodka

Pour 500 ml of a neutral potato vodka into a clean, sterile 750 ml or larger glass bottle or jar with a tight-fitting lid. Use a good-quality vodka as the base to reflect a Luksusowa-style spirit.

Infusion & Flavoring

2

Prepare aromatics

Using a vegetable peeler or sharp knife, remove thin strips of lemon and orange zest avoiding the bitter white pith. Split 1/2 vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape a few seeds into a small bowl, reserving the scraped pod. Lightly bruise the dill with the back of a knife to release oils. Measure out 1/2 tsp whole black peppercorns.

3

Combine with vodka

Add the lemon zest, orange zest, scraped vanilla seeds and pod, bruised dill, and peppercorns to the vodka bottle. If you want a slightly softer mouthfeel, add 1 tsp sugar dissolved in 1 tbsp warm water; otherwise omit. Seal the bottle tightly.

4

Infuse

Store the sealed bottle in a cool, dark place. Shake gently once daily. Taste the infusion after 24 hours to evaluate intensity; continue infusing up to 72 hours for a more pronounced flavor. The citrus will impart bright top notes quickly; vanilla and dill add depth more slowly. Avoid infusing longer than 5 days to prevent bitterness from citrus pith or overly grassy dill notes.

5

Strain and adjust

When the desired flavor is reached, strain the vodka through a fine-mesh sieve lined with several layers of cheesecloth or a coffee filter into a clean bottle. Press gently on solids to extract liquid but avoid forcing through fine particulate. If the spirit tastes too strong, optionally dilute with small amounts of distilled water (add 5–10 ml at a time), mixing and tasting until you reach the preferred strength. If you dissolved sugar, ensure it is fully dissolved before bottling.

Finishing & Serving

6

Chill and serve

Chill the finished vodka in the freezer or over ice for at least 1 hour before serving. Serve neat in shot glasses or small chilled tumblers. Garnish each pour with a lemon twist if desired. Store remaining vodka sealed in a cool, dark place or in the freezer.

Notes

This recipe produces a small, flavored batch inspired by the clean profile of Luksusowa. Adjust infusion times and the amount of aromatics to taste. All added components are optional; the base spirit can be used unflavored if preferred.
