Cocktail

2 oz Irish whiskey (preferably single pot still or blended)1/2 oz Green Chartreuse1/2 oz Fresh lemon juice1/4 oz Simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water)2 dashes Orange bitters4 pieces Ice - large cubes or cubed1 piece Lemon twist (for garnish)

Method

Cocktail

Chill glass

Place a coupe or chilled rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cool.

Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass or shaker, add 2 oz Irish whiskey, 1/2 oz Green Chartreuse, 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice, 1/4 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes of orange bitters.

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes (about 4 pieces). Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (the mixing glass should feel very cold to the touch).

Prepare glass

If you chilled your glass with ice water, discard ice water now. Strain the chilled cocktail into the chilled coupe or a rocks glass over a single large ice cube (optional — serve up or on the rocks to preference).

Garnish and serve

Express the oils of a lemon twist over the surface by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick squeeze, then rub the rim of the glass with the peel and drop it into the drink as garnish. Serve immediately.
