1

Prepare glass

Place a chilled coupe or rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you build the cocktail to chill it.

2

Add ingredients to mixing glass

Fill a mixing glass or shaker with the large ice cubes. Pour in 2 oz Canadian whisky, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

3

Stir

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture steadily for about 20–30 seconds (or until well chilled and slightly diluted). Aim for a silky texture and clear appearance.

4

Strain

Discard the chilling ice or water from your serving glass. Double-strain the cocktail from the mixing glass into the chilled coupe or into a rocks glass over a large ice cube, depending on preference.

5

Garnish and serve

Express the orange peel over the drink by holding it skin-side down and giving it a quick twist to spray oils onto the surface, then rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the glass. Serve immediately.
