1

Chill glass

Place a rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and cold water while you prepare the cocktail to chill the glass.

2

Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass or Boston shaker (no need to shake), add 2 oz Canadian rye whisky, 0.5 oz amaro, 0.5 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz orange curaçao, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

3

Stir with ice

Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes. Stir gently but thoroughly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 revolutions) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Prepare serving glass

Discard the chilling ice/water from the rocks glass and add a large ice sphere or a few large ice cubes to the glass.

5

Strain

Strain the stirred cocktail into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice.

6

Express and garnish

Take an orange twist, hold it over the drink, and gently squeeze to express the oils over the surface. Rub the twist around the rim of the glass if you like, then drop it into the drink as garnish.

7

Serve

Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the balance of spicy Canadian rye, herbal amaro, and sweet vermouth with a bright orange note.
