Method
Meats
Prepare and arrange meats
Remove cured meats from refrigerator 15–20 minutes before assembly so they relax and reach near-room temperature. For prosciutto, gently unfold or drape 1–2 slice ribbons and create loose rosettes. Fold thicker slices of soppressata and coppa into quarters or thirds and fan them into small piles. Arrange meats in 3 separate clusters on the board, leaving space between for cheeses and accompaniments.
Cheeses
Temper and place cheeses
Remove cheeses from refrigerator 30–40 minutes before serving to bring them toward room temperature (this enhances flavor). Place the wheel of Brie whole and provide a small knife; optionally score the top and drizzle 1 tsp honey and a few thyme leaves. Position cheddar and manchego in separate areas; pre-slice or cut one cheese into bite-size cubes and leave another with a small cheese knife for guests to slice.
Bread & crackers
Make crostini and arrange crackers
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette on the bias into 1/4-inch slices. Place slices on a baking sheet, brush both sides lightly with olive oil, and bake 6–8 minutes, flipping once, until golden and crisp. Let cool. Arrange baked crostini and assorted crackers in small stacks or fanned shapes near cheeses and spreads.
Accompaniments
Prepare small bowls and spreads
Place mixed olives and cornichons in small bowls. Spoon whole-grain mustard and fig jam into separate small dishes. Arrange dried fruit, nuts, and fresh grapes in small clusters around the board. If using fresh herbs, tuck sprigs between elements for aroma and visual appeal. Drizzle remaining 2 tsp honey over dried fruit or a slice of Brie if desired.
Garnish & finishing
Finish the board
Scatter a few flaky sea salt flakes and a light grind of black pepper over cheeses where appropriate (especially the soft cheese and cheddar). Place a wedge of lemon near the soft cheese for optional squeezing. Step back and fill any empty spaces with extra grapes, nuts, or folded meat to create a balanced, abundant look. Provide small serving forks, cheese knives, and toothpicks for pickups.
Serving
Serve the board at room temperature. Replenish items as they are consumed. For a rotating board concept, swap in different meats and cheeses between service rounds (for example, replace prosciutto with smoked ham, or swap Manchego for a blue cheese) to keep offerings varied.
