Method
Cocktail
- 1
Muddle Mint
In a cocktail shaker, place 6 fresh mint leaves and 0.25 oz simple syrup. Gently clap the leaves between your palms to release aroma, then use a muddler to lightly press the mint against the shaker bottom 4–6 times. Do not over-muddle — you want fragrance, not bitter chlorophyll.
- 2
Add Liquids
Add 1.5 oz Smirnoff vodka, 0.5 oz yuzu juice, 1 oz pomegranate juice, and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker with the muddled mint.
- 3
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 5 medium cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted.
- 4
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or rocks glass (use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer) to remove mint fragments and ice shards for a silky texture.
- 5
Serve
If desired, add 1 tsp of pomegranate arils into the bottom of the glass before pouring to create a jewel-like presentation. Gently place a lime wheel on the rim and a fresh mint sprig on the drink for aroma.
Garnish & Presentation
- 6
After pouring, lightly slap the mint sprig between your palms to release aromatic oils and rest it on top of the cocktail. Optionally, thread a few pomegranate arils onto a cocktail pick and lay across the rim or scatter them on top for visual appeal.
