Charcuterie
Arrange cured meats
Remove all meats from refrigeration 15–20 minutes before serving to take the chill off. On a large board or platter, fan prosciutto slices into loose ribbons, fold soppressata or salami into quarters or loose cones, and arrange coppa in overlapping rounds. Create small piles rather than one continuous line so guests can access from multiple sides.
Cheeses
Prep the cheeses
Bring cheeses to room temperature 30 minutes prior to serving. Place the firm cheese (Manchego) on the board and cut one or two 1/4-inch slices or leave a small wedge with a cheese knife. Place the Brie whole with a small knife for spreading. Crumble or place the blue cheese on a small dish or on the board; provide a dedicated spreader for each cheese to avoid flavor mixing.
Finish soft cheese
Drizzle the Brie very lightly with 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of freshly cracked black pepper to highlight its richness.
Housemade Crackers & Breads
Accoutrements
Place marinated olives in a small bowl and set on the board. Scatter cornichons near the meats. Spoon fig jam and whole grain mustard into small ramekins and position near cheeses that pair well with sweet or spicy condiments. Put honey in a small jar or dish with a honey dipper near the soft cheeses. Distribute toasted nuts and fresh fruit in small clusters around the board for color and textural contrast.
Garnish & Presentation
Fill any empty spaces with microgreens or sprigs of fresh herbs for visual appeal. Ensure there are separate knives or spreaders for each cheese and small forks or toothpicks for the olives and pickles. Taste the board from multiple points to confirm balance of textures and colors; adjust by moving small piles.
Serve with plates and napkins. Recommend guests start with mild cheeses and move to stronger flavors, and use crackers or bread as neutral vehicles. The board serves as a shared appetizer for grazing.
