Classic Negroni
Method
Classic Negroni
Add spirits
In a mixing glass or shaker filled about two-thirds with ice, pour 1 oz gin, 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz sweet red vermouth.
Stir and dilute
Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full turns) until well chilled and slightly diluted. Aim for a cold, clear, slightly viscous texture.
Prepare glass and strain
Discard the chilling ice/water from the Old Fashioned glass. Add one or two large ice cubes to the glass, then strain the stirred cocktail into the glass over the ice.
Serve immediately. The Negroni is balanced bitter, sweet, and botanical — sip slowly.
