Method

Cocktail

1

Muddle cucumber and mint

In a cocktail shaker, add the 4 cucumber slices and 8 fresh mint leaves. Add the 0.5 oz simple syrup. Gently muddle just enough to release cucumber juice and mint aroma — avoid over-muddling the mint to prevent bitterness (about 6–8 gentle presses).

2

Add liquids and ice

Pour 2.5 oz vodka and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice into the shaker with the muddled cucumber and mint. Add a generous amount of ice to the shaker (enough to fill it about 2/3 to 3/4 full).

3

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and slightly frosty. This chills and slightly dilutes the cocktail and helps integrate the cucumber and mint flavors.

4

Double strain

Using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or a single fine strainer), double-strain the contents into a chilled martini or coupe glass to remove cucumber solids and mint bits for a smooth, clear cocktail.

Garnish & Serve

5

Thread or place a cucumber ribbon or wheel on the rim or float it in the glass. Slap the mint sprig between your palms once to release the oils, then place it on top of the cocktail as garnish. Serve immediately.
