Chill glass and prepare
If possible, chill the wine glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice while assembling ingredients to cool the glass. Remove glass from freezer or discard any temporary ice, leaving it cold.
Add ice
Fill the chilled wine glass about three-quarters full with fresh ice cubes. Using plenty of ice keeps the spritz properly chilled and dilutes slowly.
Pour Aperol
Measure and pour 3 tablespoons (about 1.5 oz) of Aperol over the ice. The 3:3:1 ratio can be adjusted to taste; this recipe uses a moderately bright Aperol presence.
Add Prosecco
Pour 3 ounces of cold Prosecco gently into the glass. Pouring slowly helps preserve the bubbles and keep the layers light.
Top with sparkling water
Add 1 ounce of sparkling water (club soda or plain sparkling water) to top the drink and add lift. Adjust up to 1.5 oz if you prefer a lighter, less sweet spritz.
Stir gently
Using a bar spoon, give the mixture one or two gentle turns to combine Aperol, Prosecco, and sparkling water without flattening the bubbles.
Garnish and serve
Place a fresh orange slice on the rim or float it in the glass. Serve immediately while cold and effervescent.
Optional / Tools
Use the measuring jigger to measure Aperol and Prosecco for consistency. A bar spoon helps mix without losing carbonation.
