Garlic Butter Base

Method

Garlic Butter Base

1

Mince garlic and prep herbs

Finely mince the garlic cloves and finely chop the parsley. Zest the lemon if using, then juice it until you have about 1 teaspoon.

2

Melt butter gently

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the unsalted butter and olive oil. Warm gently until the butter is fully melted and starting to shimmer but not simmering or browning (about 2–3 minutes).

3

Infuse garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook on the lowest heat for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Do not allow the garlic to brown (browned garlic becomes bitter). If the butter starts to sizzle, reduce heat.

4

Finish sauce

Remove the pan from heat. Stir in the chopped parsley, lemon juice, lemon zest (if using), kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning—add up to another 1/4 teaspoon salt or more pepper as desired.

5

Keep warm or cool

If serving immediately as a warm dip, keep the sauce over the lowest heat or transfer to a warmed serving bowl. If making ahead or serving room temperature, let it cool slightly; the butter will thicken as it cools but remains spreadable. Gently rewarm before serving if needed.

Optional Add-ins / Serving

6

For a spicy kick, stir in the crushed red pepper flakes. For a richer, cheesy flavor, stir in the grated Parmesan while the butter is still warm so it melts smoothly. Garnish with chopped chives before serving.

7

Serve the garlic butter dipping sauce with bread (baguette slices, garlic knots, or soft rolls), steamed seafood (shrimp, lobster), grilled vegetables, or as a finishing sauce for steaks. Keeps refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days; reheat gently before serving.
