Method
Prepare Glass & Ice
Choose a tall glass (16–20 oz) and chill it briefly in the freezer for 5–10 minutes if you want extra cold drink.
Fill the chilled glass about two-thirds full (approximately 1 to 1 1/2 cups) with ice cubes or crushed ice.
Mix Fountain Drink
Measure Syrup
Pour 1 cup of fountain syrup into a measuring cup. This is the standard concentrate portion for a 6:1 ratio (water:syrup) commonly used in fountain systems. Adjust if your syrup specifies a different ratio.
Add Sweetener (Optional)
If you prefer a sweeter drink or your syrup is light, stir in up to 2 tablespoons of additional simple syrup or high-fructose corn syrup to the syrup, then mix to combine.
Combine with Carbonation
Slowly pour 6 cups of chilled carbonated water into the syrup while gently stirring once or twice with a long spoon to combine. Avoid vigorous stirring to retain carbonation. Taste and adjust: add more syrup for stronger flavor or more carbonated water for lighter flavor.
Alternative: Fountain Dispenser Method
If using a commercial fountain dispenser, use the machine’s preset mix ratio so that the syrup and carbonated water are dispensed together directly into the glass over ice.
