Cocktail Base

Brightening & Aromatics

Method

Cocktail Base

1

Combine spirits and citrus

Add 2 oz gin, 0.75 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.

2

Add aromatics

Add 2 dashes of orange bitters and the grated lemon zest (about 1/4 tsp) into the shaker to lift the citrus aromatics.

3

Dry shake (optional)

If you prefer a silkier texture, dry shake (no ice) vigorously for 8–10 seconds to emulsify the lemon zest and liqueur with the citrus juice.

4

Shake with ice

Add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup) to the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold.

Sparkle & Finish

5

Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice to remove ice shards and lemon zest.

6

Top with soda

Gently top the drink with 2 oz chilled club soda or sparkling water. Stir once gently with a bar spoon to integrate without losing too much carbonation.

7

Garnish and serve

Express a lemon twist over the surface (press peel to release oils), run it around the rim and drop it into the drink, or float a lemon wheel. Optionally add one edible flower or a few microgreens for an elevated presentation. Serve immediately.
