Bread

Method

Bread

1

Select bread

Choose either 2 slices of noble country white bread. (The menu mentions multigrain as an alternate; if you prefer multigrain, substitute 2 slices of multigrain instead.)

2

Toast bread

Place the 2 slices in a toaster or under a broiler. Toast until golden brown and crisp at the edges, about 2–4 minutes depending on your appliance. Watch closely to avoid burning.

Spread

3

Butter

Immediately after toasting, place the slices on a plate. Spread about 1 tablespoon softened unsalted butter evenly over the warm toast so it melts into the surface.

4

Jam

Using a clean knife or spoon, divide 2 tablespoons of your chosen jam between the two slices and spread evenly over the buttered surface. Adjust amount to taste.

Optional toppings

5

If using fresh fruit, slice bananas or strawberries and arrange about 1/2 cup total on top of the jam. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon chopped toasted nuts if desired, and finish with a light pinch of sea salt flakes to enhance flavor.

Serve

6

Cut the toast in half if desired and serve immediately while still warm. Enjoy with coffee or tea.
