Whole Milk (Ready-to-Serve)

Warm Milk (for drinking or recipes)

Frothed Milk (for coffee/latte)

Method

Whole Milk (Ready-to-Serve)

1

Shake or stir the container of whole milk thoroughly for 10–15 seconds before pouring to redistribute any cream that may have separated during refrigeration.

2

Pour 2 cups of milk into a clean glass. If you prefer a slightly lighter drink, add up to 1/4 cup cold water and stir gently.

3

If desired, sweeten with 1 teaspoon sugar and/or 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir until dissolved.

4

Serve immediately chilled.

Warm Milk (for drinking or recipes)

5

Stovetop

Pour 1 cup of whole milk into a small saucepan. Warm over low to medium-low heat, stirring frequently to prevent a skin from forming and to avoid scorching, until it reaches 120–140°F (49–60°C) — steaming and warm but not simmering. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon honey or sugar and/or 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or cocoa if desired. Serve immediately.

6

Microwave

Place 1 cup of whole milk in a microwave-safe container. Heat on medium power for 45–60 seconds, stirring halfway through, until warm (not boiling). Add sweetener or spices if desired and stir. Caution: milk can bubble up suddenly when overheated.

Frothed Milk (for coffee/latte)

7

Pour 1/2 cup of cold whole milk into a metal frothing pitcher or a microwave-safe jar with a lid.

8

If using a milk frother or steam wand: Insert wand just below the surface and froth/steam until the milk doubles slightly in volume and reaches about 140°F (60°C). Tap the pitcher on the counter and swirl to smooth the foam before pouring into coffee.

9

If using a handheld electric frother: Heat milk gently (see Warm Milk microwave or stovetop) to warm, then froth for 20–30 seconds until foamy.

10

If using a jar and manual method: Warm the milk as above, close the jar tightly and shake vigorously for 30–60 seconds until frothy, or pour milk into a French press and pump the plunger up and down until frothy. Tap and swirl to remove large bubbles before pouring.
