Alcoholic Mimosa

Method

Alcoholic Mimosa

1

Chill

Place the bottle of sparkling wine and the freshly squeezed orange juice in the refrigerator until well chilled (about 2–4 hours). If short on time, place glasses in the freezer for 10–15 minutes or fill with ice to chill briefly, then discard ice before pouring.

2

Prepare Glass

If using, remove ice from the flute and ensure glass is dry and chilled. Use a clean champagne flute for each serving.

3

Measure

Measure 1/2 cup (120 ml) chilled sparkling wine into each champagne flute. For a balanced classic mimosa, use a 1:1 ratio of sparkling wine to orange juice (see next step).

4

Add Orange Juice

Slowly pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice into each flute over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass to minimize excessive foaming.

5

Adjust Sweetness (Optional)

Taste and if the orange juice is too tart for your preference, stir in up to 1 teaspoon of simple syrup, a little at a time, until desired sweetness is reached.

6

Garnish & Serve

Garnish with an orange slice or twist on the rim. Serve immediately while bubbly. Advise guests to sip gently so bubbles last longer.

Non-alcoholic (Mocktail) Option

7

Chill

Chill the non-alcoholic sparkling wine or sparkling water and freshly squeezed orange juice in the refrigerator until cold (2–4 hours) or chill glasses in the freezer for 10–15 minutes.

8

Prepare Glass

Use a chilled champagne flute or tall glass. Remove any ice before pouring.

9

Measure & Pour

Pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) chilled sparkling non-alcoholic wine or sparkling water into the flute, then slowly add 1/2 cup (120 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice down the side of the glass to reduce foam.

10

Adjust Sweetness (Optional)

If needed, add up to 1 teaspoon simple syrup or agave and gently stir once to combine.

11

Garnish & Serve

Garnish with an orange slice or twist and serve immediately while fizzy.

Notes

12

Ratio: Classic is 1:1 (equal parts sparkling wine and orange juice). For a lighter cocktail, increase sparkling wine to 2 parts wine : 1 part juice. Always pour sparkling wine first if you want to limit foam, or juice first if you want more orange aroma.

13

Orange juice: Use freshly squeezed for best flavor; strain pulp if desired for a smoother drink.

14

Batching for a party: Keep juice chilled and sparkling wine on ice. Combine in a pitcher just before serving or assemble individually to preserve bubbles. Multiply ingredient quantities by number of servings.
