Method
Pastry Preparation
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
Combine Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Shape the Pastries
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes using a pastry cutter or cookie cutter.
Bake the Pastries
Place the cut shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
Cool and Glaze
Allow the pastries to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Once cooled, drizzle with a mixture of powdered sugar and a little milk to create a glaze.
