Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare jalapeño infusion

Muddle 2 jalapeño slices in the base of a cocktail shaker gently to release oils and a touch of heat. If you want more heat, muddle more vigorously or include seeds; for milder spice, remove seeds before muddling.

2

Add main ingredients

Add 2 oz Patrón Reposado tequila, 1 oz fresh passion fruit pulp, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, and 0.25 oz orange liqueur (if using) into the shaker with the muddled jalapeño.

3

Double strain and chill

Fill the shaker with about 6 ice cubes, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch. Double-strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled rocks glass (or coupe) to remove jalapeño bits and passion fruit seeds for a smooth texture. If you prefer visible seeds and pulp, use a single strain.

4

Serve over ice

If serving on the rocks, fill the serving glass with about 1 cup of fresh ice and pour the strained cocktail over the ice. For a straight-up presentation, serve without ice in a chilled coupe.

Garnish & Rimming

5

Rim the glass: Run the lime wedge around the rim of the serving glass, then dip the rim into coarse salt or Tajín (about 1 tsp) to coat evenly. Shake off excess.

6

Garnish: Float a thin jalapeño wheel on top of the cocktail. Optionally halve a passion fruit and float the half (pulp side up) or spoon a small teaspoon of pulp onto the surface for visual contrast and extra aroma.

7

Final touch: Add the reserved jalapeño slice (if you kept one) on the rim or on a pick. Serve immediately and advise guests that the cocktail has a spicy finish.
