Biscuits
Method
Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in the Butter
Add the cold butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add Milk
Stir in the milk, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Shape the Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 30 seconds. Pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.
Bake
Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve
Let the biscuits cool slightly before serving them warm with country ham and apple preserves.
