Method

Make the Profiterole Dough

1

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

Step 2: Boil Water and Butter

In a saucepan, combine water and butter and bring to a boil over medium heat.

3

Step 3: Add Flour and Salt

Once the mixture is boiling, add the flour and salt all at once. Stir vigorously until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan.

4

Step 4: Add Eggs

Remove the pan from heat and let it cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

5

Step 5: Pipe the Dough

Transfer the dough to a piping bag and pipe small mounds onto the prepared baking sheet.

6

Step 6: Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the profiteroles are golden brown and puffed up. Let them cool.

Make the Chocolate Sauce

7

Step 1: Heat the Cream

In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.

8

Step 2: Add Chocolate

Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips, stirring until melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.

Assemble the Profiteroles

9

Step 1: Fill the Profiteroles

Cut a small slit in the bottom of each profiterole and fill with vanilla ice cream using a spoon or piping bag.

10

Step 2: Serve

Drizzle warm chocolate sauce over the filled profiteroles and serve immediately.
