Blue Gin Cocktail
Method
Blue Gin Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
Chill a highball or Collins glass by filling it with ice and setting aside while you mix the cocktail (about 2–3 minutes).
- 2
Combine base ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 60 ml Reisetbauer Blue Gin, 15 ml fresh lemon juice, 10 ml simple syrup, and (if using) 10 ml blue curaçao. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice.
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels cold and slightly frosted. This chills and lightly dilutes the mix, integrating the citrus and sweet components.
- 4
Prepare serving glass
Discard the ice from the chilled serving glass. Fill the glass about two-thirds full with fresh ice.
- 5
Strain and top
Double-strain (using the shaker’s strainer or a fine mesh if available) the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Top with approximately 60 ml chilled sparkling water to add effervescence and balance the gin’s botanicals.
- 6
Garnish and finish
Express a lemon twist over the drink by holding the twist over the glass and giving it a quick squeeze to release oils, then rim the glass lightly with the peel and drop it in as garnish. Optionally add an edible flower or a small sprig of fresh herb (basil or thyme) for aroma and visual appeal.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately while the cocktail is chilled and fizzy. Provide a bar spoon if desired for gentle stirring before drinking.
